Root Canal Media in this day and age

Kent dentists have recently teamed up with media companies to clear up the many myths surrounding root canal.  Most people fear root canal without really knowing what it is. This is part of the problem. A lack of understanding of something often generates fear and tales. The fear of the treatment has become so widespread because of people hyping up the treatment. In other word many people are guilty of making comments like “I have to have root canal treatment, it is going to be so painful” with the use of social networks comments made can quickly attach a negative or positive connotation.

If one person makes a tweet or a comment on their status like, “recovering from root canal treatment”. This not only generates sympathy for the person who has just been treated but potentially creates a negative association to root canal to anybody that reads the status or tweet.  Consequently, dentists have a great challenge in tackling the negative associations and social media linked to root canal. Root canal only involves minimal pain similar to other small dental jobs. The recent online campaigns informing the public of the actual details of root canal and confronting the misunderstanding of the theory that root canal can cause illness is helping raise awareness that it is in fact a safe treatment and causes far less pain than many expect. However, dentists now need to find a solution for those who do not have a fear of pain that may be caused by the treatment but are simply squeamish at the thought of the pulp of their tooth being tampered with when it consists of nerves and blood vessels.
