Trips Trips

We run trips every three weeks; weeks three, six and nine, of terms one and two. We generally alternate between Snowdonia and the Lake District, but occasionally end up somewhere else of interest. With exams in term 3 there are no regular trips. However we do usually manage to sort out a trip to Scotland in the latter weeks.

During the winter we head to Soctland for some (hopefully) snowy conditions and do winter walking as well as climbing. This year we will also hopefully have a summer tour to the alps at the beginning of the summer holiday.

Signing Up
Signup sheets usually go up on the club noticeboard on the monday of the week preceeding the trip (e.g. Monday week 2). The noticeboard is in union north. If you enter union north from the outside entrance, just to the right of Costcutters, head up the first set of stairs, turn back on yourself and head up the second set. Then you should see the view shown below.

To signup you will need a pen. Write down your details on the signup sheet. We prefer payment by cheque. Make your cheque payable to UWSU, and write your name and Warwick Mountains - Trips on the back. Place it in the envelope on the board. If you can't pay by cheque the trip organiser is usually about for an hour or so to collect cash. This will be mentioned in the trip email.

On A Trip
Before the trip make sure you have all the kit you need. Have a look at the What You Need page for a list of walking kit. You may need to bring food and/or a sleeping bag. We'll let you know in the trip email. A few bevvies for the evenings are a good idea. If you need to borrow some kit please email us early so we can sort this out for you. We don't lend boots - you will need your own.

We usually leave at about 4 or 5 PM on the Friday, meeting at Rootes Reception. Try and arrive promptly so we don't end up in horrendous traffic. If you're going to be late please let us know. From here we travel by minibus to our destination, stopping off at a chippy en route for food. Once everyone's arrived and grabbed a bed we sort out who's doing what the next day. Walk leaders will give a brief overview of what they're planning and then you decide what you'd like to do. We're quite flexible and can change what we do depending on demand and weather etc.

The next two days we run around the hills. We'll let you know what sort of time you have to be up for the night before. Have some breakfast, sort out your gear and grab some food. Then you either walk straight out or get a lift to the starting point in a minibus. On the saturday night we talk about sundays routes, before heading off to the pub.

On the sunday we set off back to campus after finishing the days routes. We don't usually stop for food, but can do, depending on the time. We usually get back between 8 or 10 PM.
